Excellence is the basis for success

“The difference between failure and success is doing a thing nearly right and doing a thing exactly right”
- Edward Simmons

Giving focus on details builds the foundation for the excellence and that leads to successful work habits. Its very important that you put the excellence into what you do. Success is inevitable if you are innovative, you care your customers, and you make sure that all staffs in your firm participate in achieving the goals set.

In any kind of business, as in our everyday life, only excellence can make the difference. What is excellence? How do you measure the excellence?
Excellence is the completeness that you don’t leave off the last mile; you deliver the service to your customers efficiently and effectively, you always strive to push the envelop and your customers are happy and loyal; your deliverables are accurate and appropriately scheduled, and you are fully responsible for the complete job you undertake. When you strive to achieve excellence in business, customers comes to you for your service, they are ready to wait until you are free to take up their jobs, they spread your wisdom of excellence to others. Excellence is one of the the basic essence of “word of mouth.” People know that working with a company that lives with excellence and fulfills the commitments will also last longer mutually beneficial business relationships.

If you look at your life, you can differentiate between the actual winner and the person who just participated in the race. The difference is just a small difference. Anyone could have won the race, but the winner is the one who completes the last mile with difference. It’s the same in any business. You can not overlook anything. You must care all details. You must care how to finish the last mile. Don’t rush out, don’t call it a day so early. The last minute before you leave your office, think and check what single last thing you can do. When you are responsible for some project, a lot matters if you accomplish your scheduled assignment today. It makes a lot of difference on what you deliver today and if you deliver tomorrow. If you are supposed to deliver today and you deliver only tomorrow, you are failed. For customers, deadline is deadline. It will be very difficult to prove your excellence if you continuously miss the deadlines. Also when you deliver, deliver complete things after careful testing and confirming that everything comply with the agreed understandings.

Attentions to every details adds up to excellence. And excellence with integrity is the basis for success.

[…] 1. Politely note the complain if you are talking to client over the phone. Prepare a standard complaint form and send to client when you start project or sign an agreement for the project. This will make clients feel, lodging a complain is part of process. Clients will soon feel more comfortable about making complaints, which gives you the opportunity to reduce the number of dissatisfied clients, keep their business, strengthen the relationship and exceed their expectations.
